Animesh (Andy) Bhatia, D.P.M., C.W.S.

Columbus Podiatry & Surgery is under the direction of Dr. Animesh Bhatia. He has been in practice for over 17 years, providing medical and surgical solutions for foot and ankle pathologies to the Columbus community across all age groups. He has special interests in the areas of sports medicine and the management of chronic wounds and limb salvage.

Sarah Abshier, D.P.M., C.W.S.

Dr. Abshier is the newest addition to the practice with a special interest in surgery and wound care. She is currently involved in epidemiologic research pertaining to hepatitis and diabetes. She is an advocate of preventative medicine and believes that patient education should be a priority in the field of medicine.

Alan Block D.P.M.

Dr. Alan Block has joined our practice since August 2015. Dr. Block is a nationally recognized expert and educator in amputation prevention and PAD. He serves as a keynote presenter around the country and his inspirational lectures are unparalleled. Among many accomplishments, Dr. Block currently serves on the Medical Advisory Board, Kent State University; Editor in Chief of the Journal of the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons; and Past President, The Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Association

Dr. Dunnan
James Dunnan, MD

James Dunnan, M.D., is the Co-Medical Director at Columbus Podiatry & Surgery. Dr. Dunnan joined the practice in September 2011. He has a family practice office in Dublin. Dr. Dunnan, graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his Family Practice Residency at Mount Carmel Medical Center in 1993. In 2001, he opened a private practice, Scioto Family Physicians, in Dublin, Ohio. He has over 15 years experience in geriatric long-term care management. He is the Medical Director at Trillium Place and Emerald Crossings. Dr. Dunnan is very active in the Dublin Community and volunteers with Dublin Coffman Athletic Department. He resides in Dublin with his four wonderful children.

Jim Jenkins, PT, PhD

Jim Jenkins is a recent addition to initiation physical therapy at the practice. After earning a PhD in Exercise Physiology from The Ohio State University, research included the effects of exercise, nutrition, and selective pharmaceuticals on performance. The decision to pursue a physical therapy degree allowed a progression from research with 4-legged animals to providing clinical rehab to people of all ages. Clinical diversity in the rehabilitation services includes 22 years in roles from lead therapist, regional PT director, outpatient PT clinic owner serving patients, and establishing hospital rehab departments/programs across several Midwest states. His consistent focus in quality service provision continues to be patient-directed functional restoration provided in a joyful environment. A career best described as eclectic, includes years as a personal trainer and fitness consultant, coach of scholastic and collegiate sports, decades experience as an NCAA Division I sports referee in basketball and lacrosse, and a personal perpetual partaker of the athletic-participation fountain of youth. At home with wife and four dogs, Jim enjoys weeding his garden and cruising the country miles by road bike and motorcycle or enjoying kayaking.

Marissa Bechtel, M.S., C.N.P., C.W.S.
Marissa Bechtel, M.S., C.N.P., C.W.S., P.T.

Marissa has been with Columbus Podiatry and Surgery since March of 2005. As an Adult Nurse Practitioner, she focuses on conditions of the foot and ankle with a special interest in diabetic, pressure and vascular wounds. Working alongside Dr. Bhatia for many years, she has a keen interest in the prevention, education, and health of the diabetic foot along with providing advanced wound care to the lower extremities. She received her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at Miami University in Oxford, OH and received her Masters of Science in Nursing from The Ohio State University. She is a nationally certified Nurse Practitioner and a board certified wound specialist. Raised in Canton, Ohio, home of the Football Hall of Fame, Marissa now lives in Hilliard with her husband Bill and their two beautiful daughters.

Sarah Robbins

Hello, I am the office manager here at Columbus Podiatry & Surgery. However, when I began here in June 2007, I worked as a medical assistant. I enjoy the clinical aspects our practice very much, so you might see me helping in the back. I am currently finishing up my associate’s degree at Columbus State. I plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management at Franklin University soon. I currently reside in Gahanna with my 5 year-old son. Outside of managing our practice, my largest interest is music. I play guitar and enjoy writing as well. I guess, you could call me a country music nut! If you have any questions or concerns regarding our practice, please feel free to call and speak with me at any time. Take care of those feet, and I look forward to meeting you soon!

Jessica Rhoads

Jessica has been with the practice since December 2006. She is a medical assistant and a limited Radiographer. Jessica assists Dr. Bhatia and Dr. Abshier and also takes x-rays of the foot and ankle. She attended Columbus State Community College for two years. Jessica resides in Galloway with her two sons and fiance. She enjoys her job and spending time with her family.

Brandy Isaac

Brandy joined the Columbus Podiatry team in 2014 as the Office Manager for our Gahanna location. She has been in the medical industry for over 15 years. Her solid experience in a healthcare environment results in the ability to deal successfully with the demands of a busy and diverse practice. As the Office Manager her primary objective is to ensure smooth and accurate operations so that your experience with us is exceptional. In addition she does the surgery scheduling, wound care, outside facility visits, billing, and general office administration.

In her spare time, Brandy’s favorite thing is spending quality time with her husband and two wonderful children. She also enjoys reading a good book, watching movies, going to concerts and she is a big Dallas Cowboys and OSU football fan…Go Bucks!

Anna Ter-Saakova

Anna joined our practice in 2016 as a Front/Back office assistant. She formerly worked as an administrator for Ideal adult day care for 5 years and also received a certificate in phlebotomy. In addition she completed 1 year of nursing school at Fortis college where she plans to finish her degree. In her free time Anna enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Brenton Windle

Brenton is one of our newest additions to the Columbus Podiatry staff. He recently moved to Columbus from his hometown of Findlay, OH. He attended The University of Findlay where he studied Exercise Physiology, as well as history. While attending Findlay he was part of the soccer team, as well as the football team. He is currently studying nursing at Columbus State.

Kristal Baker

Kristal joined Columbus Podiatry in June 2015. She is one of our fabulous front office assistants who will always greet you with a smile! She has 4 years of business office experience and studied medical billing and coding. Kristal lives with her boyfriend and children whom she adores and spends all of her free time with.

Marsha A. Fechter

Marsha earned her BS in Physical Therapy in 1987 from Ohio University. Since graduating she has focused her efforts in orthopedic rehab with emphasis on the ‘whole’. She approaches the body like a mechanic looking for alignment issues in the body and uses manual therapy techniques to reset the muscles thus correcting the asymmetries allowing for more normal postures, gait, and pain reduction. She combines manual therapy and exercise based programs to allow patients to reach their goals and their full potential.
She is a busy wife and mother of two high school age children. One who plays competitive volleyball. She travels all over the country in her spare time for volleyball tournaments.

Terri Jo Boyer

Terri Jo is new to our staff. She graduated from Mid-East career & technology centers in 1987 as a licensed Practical Nurse. Terri has worked over 10 years in Podiatry and is looking forward to working for Columbus Podiatry and Surgery. Terri has two grown daughters and three grandchildren. She resides in Heath with her husband and enjoys spending time with her family.
